Hiring a Coach Will Change the Game

Hiring a coach is one of the best and fastest ways for you to uplevel your business. They offer a fresh set of eyes, bring in a different perspective, and will help both you and your business go from good to great. How do I know? My business, and the businesses of many of my colleagues are all the proof I need.

A few years ago, I was still heavily in the field as an installation technician for my business, Top Class Installations. We only had one or two other technicians, so I was spending most of my time on the road doing installs for clients. This happened to be around the same time that my oldest daughter was born, and I was convinced there had to be a better and more sustainable way for me to come off the installation side of my business, and start leading from the front.

Don’t get me wrong. I am a firm believer that you, as a business owner, should be ready and available to jump in and do whatever it is you’re asking your employees to do, but I was also aware that to grow Top Class to the level I knew it could be, I needed to get in off the road, and start working ON my business and not IN IT. But I wasn’t sure how to get there. So, I did what any smart business owner would do, and I hired a coach.

Now, I want to be clear here. You don’t necessarily need to hire someone who is an expert in your specific industry, although that could be a good thing. What you need to do is hire a coach who understands systems and processes, and who can help you level up yourself and your business. And that’s exactly what I did.

Hiring a coach, someone who has been where you are and is now where you want to be, is the best way to fast track your growth. If you wanted to lose weight and build muscle as quickly as possible, you’d hire a trainer, right? Well bringing in a business coach is the same thing. They will help you build out systems and processes in your business. They can help you avoid the mistakes they made while scaling and growing, and have the ability to see further ahead than you do, because they’ve already been down that road.

I’m not saying that hiring a coach is going to make your business an instant success, but their knowledge and experience is invaluable. You’re still going to have to do the work, and hiring a coach isn’t cheap, but if you get the right one, and you give it time, it will not only increase your cash flow but it will free you up to work on your business, not just in it. And that means sustainable growth and success are within your reach.
